Now that even every local companies around the world have a website, most of them want to focus on their main project and ask someone to do else to do their website. This is allowing more college dropouts with a basic PHP and HTML knowledge get a job. A job that the qualifications are passing a basic outdated HTML knowledge test.
More than 99% of them uses one of the open source projects like WordPress, Joomla or Drupal. They download a somewhat heavy WordPress project for a basic website. Even if it’s just a landing page with some contact information. They use git, but with a user interface because they are lazy to learn how to use git. And they pay yearly to some third party company so they can update all WordPress sites and extensions at the same time.
After several of their sites get hacked at the same day because of some vulnerability in some extension that they are using they may lose their job. But it’s not themselves who the air harming the most. Running a MySQL server with PHP can be expensive. (Not money wise but it uses more computer resources as in ram CPU and disk space) for accomplishing the same thing that they could do with 3 or 4 HTML and CSS files. Their files are most probably are hosted on some webhosting company based in California that they may or may not use renewable energy.
At this point you may think I’m hating on college dropouts, but I’m not. I just want to point out to the HR department of tech companies what one wrong choice can do to everyone else on earth, even if they never even touched a digital gadget in their life.
